Call for abstracts

For the ICPTO 2020 abstracts can be submitted in three categories:

  1. Scientific research
  2. Care innovation & Implementation
  3. Case reports

Scientific research, Care innovation & Implementation
We welcome abstracts on physical therapy in oncology, and related topics. This includes scientific topics (finished or ongoing studies) as well as development of care pathways or implementation projects.

Case reports

At the ICPTO 2020 we also want to acknowledge physiotherapists that put evidence into every day clinical practice and encourage them to share their knowledge and insight. Therefore, we welcome abstracts that highlight how physiotherapy in the area of oncology is performed in the clinic and describes “how to” target specifics symptoms, side-effects or long-term effects, approaching patients “our” way or whatever you think could contribute to improve clinical practice.

Preparing your abstract

Please review the submission guidelines, criteria, terms and conditions.

All the submissions should contain:

  • Name, e-mail address and telephone number of the presenting author
  • A title describing the content of the work
  • The names of all the authors included in the work
  • A structured abstract (no more than 350 words, not including authors and affiliations), using the appropriate heading per abstract type (i.e., Scientific research, Care innovation & Implementation or Case report) on the submission form is required
  • 4 keywords
  • 2 learning objectives
  • Preferred type of presentation: Poster presentation or augmented poster presentation (poster plus oral presentation of 5 minutes (no slides) and 10 minutes Q&A in a thematic abstract session).


Criteria

Abstracts will be judged on:

  1. relevance to the field of oncology physical therapy;
  2. clinical impact;
  3. scientific rigour (if applicable);
  4. writing style


Conditions for presentations

  • At least one of the authors should register for the conference.
  • A maximum of 2 abstracts per presenting author may be submitted.
  • Authors of accepted abstracts who cancel their presentation will not be permitted to submit for the following year.
  • All presenters have to complete a conflict of interest statement disclosing any commercial or other involvements that pertain to the content of their presentation.
  • All education provided will be free of commercial bias, attempts to sell equipment or advocate software or equipment. The only exception to this will be courses that are specifically geared towards a particular treatment approach.
  • Presenters may provide basic contact information, a description of relevant services they offer and how they might be contacted. Otherwise, solicitation or sales during an educational presentation are not allowed.
  • The abstracts of accepted posters will be published on the website to which only the conference participants have access.
